Questions 13-17 refer to the following letter and e-mail.

Mar. 7, 2006

Dear Ms. Lee:

Jameson Holdings would like to invite you to consider purchasing the apartment you are currently renting in Craftwood Court.

You have lived in the unit for 12 years now and your current lease expires in three month’s time. The company has decided to convert Craftwood Court into condominiums and so will be unable to offer you an additional lease. The purchase price for your unit would be $93,000. Although the exact monthly cost will depend on bank financing charges, your monthly mortgage payment may very well be less than your current rent.

This same offer is being made to all Craftwood Court tenants. My assistant, Ruth Walker, and I will hold an informational meeting to familiarize prospective buyers with the conditions of condominium ownership. It will be held next month on the seventh at 7 p.m. in Mr. Bridgestone’s apartment.

Should you decide against purchasing your unit, your current lease requires one month notice to the company to avoid late notification penalties. Under no circumstances will rental be possible after conversion of the building to condominium ownership.

We look forward to your response and hope that you will continue to occupy your Craftwood Court apartment in light of the opportunities condominium ownership has to offer.

Sincerely,

Albert Townsend, Craftwood Court Manager

Dear Mr. Townsend:

I have given considerable thought to the possibility of purchasing my apartment as was outlined in your letter of March 7. I find the price to be quite reasonable, and the current San Diego market situation makes the purchase of real estate in the local area an intriguing possibility. Many tenants will no doubt take you up on your offer.

I have, however, decided against doing so and will vacate my unit at the end of my current lease. I have been considering relocating out of the San Diego area for some time now and feel this may be a good opportunity to do so.

I wish your company the best with its plans for Craftwood Court. In fact, when I next visit San Diego, I would be very happy if you could take a little time out of your busy schedule to meet me. I’d like to know how the place where I have spent so many happy years has progressed.

Sincerely,

Monica Lee
